About the Artist

Anthony Soriano was born in Paete, Laguna of the Philippines—a town well known for its population of artisans. In fact, the name of the town is actually based on a misnomer of the Tagalog word for chisel, and was proclaimed the "Carving Capital of the Philippines" by President Arroyo in 2005. Growing up in such a culturally rich area, it's no wonder Anthony became the successful sculptor that he is today.

After working abroad for several years in the early 90's, Anthony decided to join his brothers and sisters who were immigrating to the San Francisco Bay Area. After spending some time advancing his culinary career in the East Bay, Anthony later decided to try his luck in Las Vegas, Nevada. There he found work at the reknowned Flamingo Hilton as a pastry chef, and furthered his skills as a garde manger.

In 2004, Anthony decided to return to the Bay Area where he eventually advanced his career to the position of executive chef at Monarch Place in Oakland, California. He currently resides in the East Bay with his wife and his two sons.
